HTC Group is proud to announce our participation in Project Jolt, a landmark initiative spearheaded by the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight (SRF) and The University of Cambridge, aimed at accelerating the transition to electric heavy goods vehicles (eHGVs) across the UK.
Launched in response to the urgent need to decarbonise the logistics industry, Project Jolt brings together a powerful consortium of innovators including numerous truck manufacturers, Flexible Power Systems and now, HTC Group as DAF representatives along with some of our customers including DP World and John Lewis Partnership.

As a trusted provider of DAF Trucks, HTC Group is contributing its XD demonstrators to the real-world testing programme. Vehicles are fitted with a high-resolution data logger that monitors performance metrics every second. This allows researchers to gather ultra-precise insights into energy consumption, regenerative braking, route profiles and charging patterns.
Unlike standard telematics systems that track vehicle data every minute, Project Jolt’s technology captures continuous feedback, offering a ground-breaking level of detail. The same truck configurations are mirrored in diesel equivalents, enabling true side-by-side comparisons, a rare but crucial method for understanding the real-world viability of electric freight.

Why It Matters
Participating in Project Jolt gives HTC Group a front-row seat in shaping the future of freight:
- We’re helping test and prove electric HGV capability in live logistics environments.
- We’re learning directly from drivers, technicians and fleet managers, not just software.
- We’re enabling the industry to refine its charging infrastructure and route planning with real data.
- And most importantly, we’re helping build a sustainable, scalable future for logistics.
As a business committed to innovation and responsibility, our role in Project Jolt also aligns with our ambition to be proactive in the transition to a lower-carbon future, both through the vehicles we supply and the knowledge we contribute.
What’s Next?
This is just the beginning. Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing insights, behind-the-scenes footage, and reflections from the trial across our social platforms. We’re also working to empower internal champions within HTC Group who can guide the wider rollout of eHGVs.
We invite our partners, customers and industry peers to follow our journey and the journey of our DAF demonstrators as we support this important project.
